Ban Luoc is a wonderful destination in Hoang Su Phi. It is a great valley with homestays and photographic opportunities around every corner. Many of the homestays have great views directly on the property. This makes getting up for the sunrise photos easy and no stress about getting home on your motorcycle after the sunset session.
Two areas are best for photographers. Nam Ly Retreat offers views of “mam Xoi” styled rice terrrace with a waterfall in the background. Clean rooms, good food, and easy trekking options to the waterfall and beyond. At the bottom of the valley on a ridge you have Sky View Khanh Dinh and Tra My Lua Vang. Both have great views up the valley.
Ban Luoc is also close enough to Hoang Su Phi to catch the weekend market. A nice day trip motorcycle loop is to head out of Ban Luoc toward the Ban Luoc Viewpoint on Google maps, on to Ho Thau and then DT177 to the Ta Su Choong rice fields.
If your limited for time and can only visit two areas in Hoang Su Phi I’d go to Ban Luoc and Thong Nguyen.
