Mang Thit Pottery Village — Mekong

In Vinh Long on the Co Chien River you’ll find this fascinating pottery area. Numerous kilns and factories line the clay rich riverbanks and its tributaries making for some fascinating imagery. Vinh Long itself is a good sized Mekong Delta city just 15 minutes from the pottery area. Many of the factories along the main river allow visitors and for a small fee you can arrange for a model to be inside the kiln area. Arrange for a noon visit to get the sun streaming through the opening at the top of the kiln.

Many of the larger factories are on the Co Chien River but some of the best views can be had on the Mang Thit river tributary with the kilns lining the river. I like Ca Phe Nha Gach Dom Duong Dai . Nice second floor open river and kiln views, great coffee, even some food if you’re hungry.

There are a number of hotels in Vinh Long and some decent food options. I like to stay at the Paris hotel. Nice rooms and easy to find, just look for the Eiffel tower on there roof!
