Cai Rang Floating Market — Mekong

SInce Covid, the Cai Rang floating market in Can Tho is quite a bit less active. It is now primarily a tourist destination more than an actual market for locals. Now the roadways in the Mekong are m uch more developed and traveling by boat to purchase goods is not required. Much of the commerce I see is more commercial with large boats of watermelon and other harvest are brought to market. I wouldn’t make a dedicated trip from Saigon. But since I will always take an opportunity to photograph waterfront scenes from a boat, if I am in the mekong I always go. Best to get a sunrise boat, any local homestay can arrange this for you,

The tours inevitably include some very commercial trips to a rice paper factory or a fruit farm These can be very touristy but the canals around the market also have some good environmental portrait opportunities.
