Weather in Vietnam

Vietnam is a long country covering over 1600 km from south to north. There are complex weather patterns. When it is nice in the south it may be typhoon season or cold in the central and Northern provinces.

Here is a general idea of the seasonal weather patterns:

January – March

• Season: Dry season in the south, monsoons in the northern and central area, cold Hanoi and North.
• Best Weather Areas: Saigon, Mekong and southern beaches. 

April – June

• Season: Spring blossoms  in the north . Hot in the South
• Best Weather Areas: Ha Giang and other northern mountains. Central highlands 

July – August

• Season: Rainy season in the south and northern mountains, summer in Hoi An and central beaches. 
• Best Weather Areas: Da Nang, Hoi An and other central beaches.

September – December

• Season:Autumn getting cool in northern mountains. Central rainy season and typhoons toward the end of year.  northern autumn, central rainy season, southern transition, typhoon season
• Best Weather Areas:  Northern mountains (though getting cool), Hanoi, Southern Islands and Mekong
